Graduate Students' Association Condemns York University Administration

The York University Graduate Students' Association (YUGSA) has passed a motion condemning the York University administration for sanctioning SAIA.

"Be it resolved that the YUGSA executive committee condemn the unwarranted and unjust measures taken by the York University administration to revoke the student club status of Students Against Israeli Apartheid and to ban York University alumnus, Hammam Farah, from the campus by invoking sections 3(1) and 5(1) of the Trespass to Property Act.

These extraordinary actions are contrary to the principles of Academic Freedom and Freedom of Speech. The executive committee of YUGSA urges VP Students, Janet Morrison, to reverse these decisions and to work with YUGSA, and other campus and community groups and organizations, to ensure that Academic Freedom and Freedom of Speech are respected by the York University administration in the future."
