Our Top Three Victories

We've made significant gains in our weapons-divestment campaign, which calls on the Board of Governors (BoG) to divest from the arms industry or the worst offenders.

Here's what you missed...

SAIA York member and PhD student Dan O'Hara was elected as a student nominee to the Board of Governors. Upon approval by the BoG, he now sits on York's highest governing body.

We successfully lobbied Student Community and Leadership Development (SCLD) to add York's Bill of Rights and Responsibilities to its clubs' contract. This ensures clubs know their York-recognized rights when they agree to abide by University rules. This is a victory for all student associations at YorkU.

We held a memorable dinner fundraiser to end off the summer. There was a raffle, spoken-word poetry by a member of Independent Jewish Voices, and we received generous donations to move the #YUDivest campaign forward.

Join us on Thursday, September 10, the first day of classes, at our information table in Central Square from 10:00 to 4:00 to help spread the word about the #YUDivest campaign and be part of our success.
