Students Against Israeli Apartheid at York University will be hosting author and activist Ben White for a lecture and Q&A session.
British author Ben White will unpack the facts about Israeli policies of segregation and colonization against Palestinians. he will explain why Israel cannot be both a 'Jewish state' and a democracy, and how equality for Palestinians is the key to a lasting peace.
Ben White is a writer, researcher and freelance journalist. He is the author of "Israeli Apartheid: A Beginner's Guide" and "Palestinians in Israel: Segregation, Discrimination and Democracy." His work has been praised by Desmond Tutu, John Pilger, Ali Abunimah and Ilan Pappe, among others. Al Jazeera, The Guardian, New Statesman, Christian Science Monitor, and many more have published his articles.

We have uncovered York University investments in defense contractor CACI, which supplied interrogators to the U.S. government during the Iraq War. Former prisoners accuse CACI employees of directing the torture of prisoners at the infamous Abu Ghraib prison, where the treatment of detainees exploded into an international scandal in 2004.
On June 24, 2013, members of Students Against Israeli Apartheid at York University in Toronto attended the Board of Governors meeting to express their concerns regarding the University's investments in weapons manufacturing companies and the University's recent undemocratic decision to ban York alumnus and activist Hammam Farah from campus and revoke SAIA's student club status.
In response to increased pressure from the York chapter of Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA), the York University administration has decided to take extraordinary measures to ban a community member and alumnus from campus, to threaten student leaders with punishment, and furthermore, to revoke the official student club status of SAIA until January 2014.Read More
