Toronto Solidarity Protest With African Migrants in Israel!

Join us at 4pm on January 22nd outside the Israeli Consulate in Toronto (180 Bloor Street West) in solidarity with African refugees in Israel fighting for justice and freedom. As thousands of African migrants and asylum seekers take to the streets, and strike actions escalate in Israel, we are being called to take on solidarity actions around the world. Join us to insist that Israel meet the demands outlined by African Asylum Seeker Community in Israel.

Students Against Israeli Apartheid at York University will be hosting author and activist Ben White for a lecture and Q&A session.

British author Ben White will unpack the facts about Israeli policies of segregation and colonization against Palestinians. he will explain why Israel cannot be both a 'Jewish state' and a democracy, and how equality for Palestinians is the key to a lasting peace.

Ben White is a writer, researcher and freelance journalist. He is the author of "Israeli Apartheid: A Beginner's Guide" and "Palestinians in Israel: Segregation, Discrimination and Democracy." His work has been praised by Desmond Tutu, John Pilger, Ali Abunimah and Ilan Pappe, among others. Al Jazeera, The Guardian, New Statesman, Christian Science Monitor, and many more have published his articles.

Students Declare No to “York Spirit” without Social Justice and Divestment! York Security threatens to arrest them all!

We, students and community members concerned about social justice and freedom of expression, decided to attend York Is U’s “Spirit Rally” in Vari Hall to bring attention to the University’s lack of commitment to social justice. While “school spirit” has a role to play in University life, we have decided to expose the York administration’s exploitation of school spirit to steer the York community in the direction of student apathy and de-politicization.

SAIA Uncovers York University Investments in Contractor Accused in Abu Ghraib Torture

We have uncovered York University investments in defense contractor CACI, which supplied interrogators to the U.S. government during the Iraq War. Former prisoners accuse CACI employees of directing the torture of prisoners at the infamous Abu Ghraib prison, where the treatment of detainees exploded into an international scandal in 2004.

York University Board of Governors Walks Out On Students

On June 24, 2013, members of Students Against Israeli Apartheid at York University in Toronto attended the Board of Governors meeting to express their concerns regarding the University's investments in weapons manufacturing companies and the University's recent undemocratic decision to ban York alumnus and activist Hammam Farah from campus and revoke SAIA's student club status.
